After almost 60 years of right-wing messaging, the extremists in the Republican Party have almost gotten everything they want. We’ve watched progressive achievements fail and falter time and again under the strain of propaganda; we’ve seen hard-fought wins eradicated by a well-organized opposition; we’re watching a full-blown fascist movement take aim at the heart of our republic for a second time—and we can’t count on a miss.

So we need a plan. The people who believe in democracy, in autonomy, in the fundamental right to decide what our lives will be for ourselves have to push back. Some people are organizers. Others are activists. I am a witness, and a voice. All of us are necessary.

Because to survive this dark and difficult moment, we can’t act alone. To organize, we need to be present. To drive activism, we need to set goals. To speak, we need a chorus. And that chorus needs a message.

So hand me the tools to craft and spread a message for the chorus to sing. Help me help others find the voices that they have forgotten how to use, or maybe given up on using, because they thought no one could hear them. Give a little, so I can give a lot.

After all of this right-wing noise, it’s time that the rest of us had our say.
